Introduction

In the year 2013, both Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd. (“BL”) and Visakhapatnam Port Trust (“VPT”) agreed to develop a Multi Modal Logistics Hub (‘MMLH’) in Visakhapatnam on the idle space at VPT area, measuring around 53 acres.

Upon receiving due approvals from the respective Administrative Ministries of the joint venture partners, namely, BL and VPT, the Company was incorporated on 24th July 2014 under the Companies Act 2013. It was incorporated in the name of “Vizag Logistics Park Ltd.”, which later got changed to Visakhapatnam Port Logistics Park Ltd.” with effect from 11th March 2015.

BL infused 60% equity contribution in cash, whereas VPT’s 40% contribution was in the form of providing 53 acres of land on a long term lease for 30 years. The Company is a Government Company under Section 2(46) of the Companies Act, 2013.

The construction of MMLH started in March 2015 and was completed by March 2019.

MMLH is developed to provide a modern and varied logistics services, such as warehousing, including temperature controlled, acting as container freight station, inland container depot with value added services, like storage of empty containers, repairing of containers, and similar other activities.

  • We have used Ammonia as refrigerant is a cost-effective refrigerant with sensor alarm for leakage.24hrs maintenance of plant done by operators

  • The proposed facility is broadly divided into two sections – Container Terminal and Domestic Warehousing. In addition, land will also be provided in the proposed site for a container repair service provider for establishing a container repair facility.
  • Containers are typically damaged due to improper handling as well as due to very heavy cargo that they carry and thus require regular repairs and cleaning. These have to be carried out by shipping lines, which typically outsource container repair services to specialized agencies.

  • It has taken 50 trailers on long-term contract for movement of the containers
  • It has 2 Reach Stackers, 5 Forklifts (3MT, 5MT and 10MT), 40 MT Crane, Telescopic Mobile Cranes and 2 nos. of 80 MT Weighbridges
  • It has a covered warehouse of 58,125 sq. ft. and 5000 sq. ft. of bonded and special bonded warehouse for storing of EXIM cargo;
  • It has adequate space and equipment for handling bulk mineral cargo
  • It is completely under 24/7 CCTV surveillance with adequate security personnel
  • It has 21 reefer plug points for re-charging reefer containers
  • It has easy road connectivity for transportation of containers to and from Ports
  • It has all the facilities under one roof, like, Full Container Load (FCL) delivery, de-stuffing, storage and delivery of the cargo, handling over dimensional and out of gauge containers, handling and monitoring of Reefer Containers, consolidation and de-consolidation of Less Container Load (LCL), handling of cargo for exports, handling and storing of Break Bulk Cargo;
  • It has a well-built parking space, rest rooms for labourers, etc.
  • It has rail-siding of 1.35 kms;
  • It’s operations are looked after by experienced professionals for smooth handling of the EXIM cargo;
